The Sharma family
is from Nepal, but their restaurant
offers an extensive menu of Indian dishes,
from both the north and south of India.
Their lunchtime buffet, served every
day from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. week
days (till 3:00 on weekends), and is
a notable value at $6.95 ($7.95 on Saturday
and Sunday). The food is authentically
spiced from house made spice blends.
The dishes - ranging from lentil soup
to be ladled into white bowls, to chana
masala (chick peas cooked with onion,
tomatoes, ginger and garlic) and chicken
korma (boneless cubes of chicken in
a mild, creamy sauce) - are set out
in small quantities and they are replenished
frequently.
Many of the selections
are vegetarian, such as cauliflower
or potatoes cooked with peas and tomatoes,
spring rolls filled with shredded carrots,
cabbage and green onion and vegetable
fritters (pakora) as well as heaps of
fragrant rice.
Few people resist
the buffet at lunch (although the full
menu is available). In the evening,
it's a different story, when guests
order from an extensive array, which
ranges from the relatively familiar
and nicely done tandoori dishes - chicken,
lamb, fish or shrimp cooked in the clay
oven - to the masala dosa of Southern
India, crepes made of rice and lentil
flour, stuffed with vegetables and served
with sambar (spicy vegetable and lentil
soup) and chutney, and much, much more.
